The documentary Paper Heart came out on dvd yesterday, and I can’t wait to purchase it!  It star’s Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up) and Michael Cera (Superbad, Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist). Charlyne is a girl who does not believe in love, but goes on a quest to find the true meaning of it and in the process meets Michael, and you witness their relationship develop.

There seems to be something very pure about this film, and I am a lover of all things documentary, romantic, quirky & off beat. I think this is a film that will suit me nicely. ;)

Do you believe in true love?

First and foremost you must determine the type of look you want to achieve. A bold and modern look, something more chic with added sparkle for a more glamorous feel, or a funky & hip look for a bit of edge, so on and so on….the ideas are endless!

Now this is just the first step, but I hope this helps get the ideas flowing if you haven’t already nabbed that perfect dress for your upcoming fete!

Post Thanksgiving & Random thoughts…

November 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

First I must get this off my chest! I have been coveting this Felix Rey Santos Snake Clutch FOREVER! It has been on my Shopbop wishlist for like 6 months! And I waited patiently for it to go on sale, and before I knew it….GONE! It was completely sold out in the white/gray color I wanted. Then like magic it reappeared in my wishlist last week, for $160!!! YES! $160 from $325!

I thought to myself, “It’s a MIRACLE!”. I have been checking it and checking it almost every day to make sure it’s still there, and there it was patiently waiting for me to take her home.  And now today when I decide to pull the trigger, *POOF*! It’s gone again. :(

Can you just see the pouty face I’m making right now?

Ok I’ve vented, moving on!

So on Thanksgiving morning Will went to play football (turkey bowl) with some old friends. It’s been a tradition between him and his friends for years, but he’s missed it the last few times, and really wanted to go this year. Will LOVES football, as much as he loves chocolate cake!

The aftermath…

Will's swollen ankle

Besides twisting his ankle, he was in a lot of pain (he paid for it the next morning), his shirt was torn to shreds, and he had scratches all down his back! It was a tough start to his Thanksgiving day. But inspite of the war wounds, he had a fun time. Boys. Go figure?

Mochi couldn’t have been happier about his day playing football. She made his grass-stained shorts her new bed for 2 days!

Mo gettin cozy in daddy's dirty shorts!

and the next day…

11/27/09.....all day!

All in all my 4-day weekend was pretty low key, no big family hoopla, no get together with friends, just a quiet time spent with my mom, Will and Will’s family at his sister’s house. The next day I slept in and Will and I spent time with my dad, sister, and step mom. Saturday I tried arranging a brunch with some girlfriends from high school in our home town of Benicia, or “B-town” as I like to call it, but a few were unable to make it because of family commitments and/or being out of town. But I did grab a cup of Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha with Ange while out and about. I hadn’t had any of their holiday drinks since they’ve come out, and had been craving one! I love their eggnog lattes too! Yum!  I had a little bit of family drama during my time off, but I have come to terms with that now. And honestly it’s a bit of downer, and rather not elaborate on it. No “Debbie Downers” over here!

Pearls of DE-liciousness!

{image via cdnerd.com}

Sunday Will and I spent the day doing errands, laundry, stocking up on household goods. We went to the Pacific East Mall to pick up a few bags of rice, I eat rice with EVERYTHING! And spotted a pearl tea drink stand, and had to have one! I came to find out that Will has never had one!? I know I was shocked too! How do you live in the bay area and never have a pearl tea drink?? Well this was his perfect opportunity to try one! I was hesitant about getting his with the tapioca balls, but it’s not a true pearl tea drink without them right? So I ordered 2 honeydew (my favorite, next to lechee) flavored ones.

As I held my breathe while he took his first sip and anticipated the stinky face of unpleasantness after swallowing his first tapioca ball, he says, “It’s not bad.” That in Will language means, it’s good. Yay! Success! :)

Didn’t take any pictures during this time, but I promise there will be some soon! :)

Ok, tomorrow is officially the kick off to all the upcoming holiday festivities! Christmas parties for work, friends, family, New Year’s eve!!

Have you picked out your party dresses yet??

I Am Thankful.

November 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends today. I have a lot to be thankful for, and at times lose sight of that. It’s funny how one holiday can help remind you when you need reminding!

It’s been a road of many ups & downs this year, but I am so grateful and fortunate for what I do have in my life…… my wonderful & goofy friends whom I adore greatly, my loving fiance who stands by me no matter what and loves me truly for who I am, my mother who holds the strength and wisdom to keep me strong, my butter ball of a cat Mochi who I love more than she will ever know, and all of my other relationships that I have been nurturing and building in my life.

I have no idea what my future holds, but I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life with my future husband, and a journey of a lifetime with all who are, and will be in my life. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :)

Style in The City

November 22, 2009 · 4 Comments

I had a whirlwind of a Saturday, a few bumps in the road [parking ticket, Bloomingdales account not approved, running late, no $$, etc...], but Saturday night I had the most fun time with two of my closest friends Ange [a.k.a Cuzzo] and Tanya [a.k.a "T"]. We attended the first ever Style Wars competition in San Francisco at the Mezzanine (one of my favorite venues), where local bay area fashion designers compete by creating outfits in 5 minutes with random clothing pieces and household items. And at just $12 for the ticket, it was perfect for my recessionista budget! Some outfits I thought were pretty creative with the time constraint given, and others well….fell a little short. Like they just grabbed anything and threw it on the model. I kept thinking, “Whoa waay too much, edit, edit!”

Now I’m not the greatest photographer, but wanted to share a few photos from the event, as well as a few fashion forward attendees and San Francisco locals. Enjoy! :)

{French Connection dress, Hue tights, Frye booties, Kooba clutch, Betsey Johnson hoops, Anthropologie ring, Banana Republic chain bracelet, old necklace I threw on}

Me, T, and Cuzzo

Alex & Tiffany

{Love their incredibly chic outfits from his bow-tie to her military jacket!}

"Shortie"

{Her outfit was completely reminiscent of my favorite pop culture artist Warhol}

My fellow fashionista Cuzzo

{She wore a necklace as a belt, so Cameron Diaz of her ;) }

Vincent & Chad, on Mission Street in S.F.

Alicia & Andrea on Mission Street in S.F

{Super adorable matching couple, even their glasses matched! I couldn’t resist.}

A few photos from the event. I apologize for the bad quality and angles. I tried!

with the winning designer Kayo

{Cuzzo was pleasantly surprised that her fellow co-worker was participating in the event, and inevitably won!}

Wedding Dress on the brain…cont’d.

November 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I have been coveting these Christian Louboutin silver glitter slingback heels for over a year! I swear they are hard to find! I was completely reminded of them when I came across this post [which I cannot find at the moment] of another lady who wore my coveted CL’s on her wedding day. Aren’t they the perfect bit of sparkle that every girl needs to complete her glamorous wedding look? ;) [I swear I'm going to look like a disco ball on my wedding day! Lol...]

My Cinderella shoes!

And this beautiful flower hair piece that Jennifer Garner wore for a spread in InStyle magazine earlier this year.  Simply gorgeous!

I’m sure this hair piece is waaay out of reach for me, but curious to know who created this lovely piece? Does anyone know?

Wedding dress on the brain!

November 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So even though I have already chosen and purchased my Jenny Packham wedding dress [which I love by the way], I am still a bit lost as to how I want to style my dress. I am going for a modern version of  “Old Hollywood Glamour”, and have ostrich feathers, rhinestones and pearls on the brain!

I came across these lovely images, which are true inspirations of Chic glamour! :)
