Ready for the ride!

Hello world!

My name is Elena, creator of  “Just a Girl”. I created this blog as an outlet for myself,  and an escape from the monotony of my day-to-day comings and goings. It is also a way to record my life’s encounters & experiences.  Born and raised in the Bay Area, I have had the great fortune to grow up in this beautiful place of a melting pot!

Growing up with a mother of Japanese/African American descent, and a father of Chinese descent, has allowed me to embrace different cultures and ethnicity, and also to be open-minded to all of the world’s possibilities.

I have always had a strong passion for fashion & creativity.  Even as a kid  I loved dressing up and putting on my mom’s jewelry and shoes, then coming out to show her. I loved drawing too, and always seemed to draw what I saw, which happened to be my mother most of the time. Now that I think back on it…I really admired and looked up to her a great deal, and I still do. She is my strength. Most recently I have become interested in home decor.  I want to learn how to make my own space a place where I want to be the most. I want it to become my haven, to be surrounded by all things that make me happy and inspired.

I have to admit, for a little while there I lost my passion, but since discovering the world of blogging, I have been re-inspired and feel the vigor of creativeness again! So a sincere thank you to my fellow bloggers. Being re-inspired has been such a great feeling that I want to keep the momentum going! ;)

In general,  I discuss my opinions and share my findings & ideas regarding all things fashion and home decor related with all of you. But this blog is not only about all things beautiful, it is also about my life and loves.

I am currently engaged, and am planning a wedding for the Fall of 2010. Here I will share a few tid-bits of my experience of planning for my wedding, some ideas & decor inspirations, and in the end you will see how The Big Day evolved.  To view please click the tab “Wedding Bells!“.

At times there are significant moments with my fiancee Will, and amusing encounters with my queen of a cat Mochi which I also share.  They keep my life interesting and they are the loves of my life! To view please click the tab “My Loves”.

Thank you to all who decide to follow me through this journey, and hopefully some of what I share inspires you too! ;)

Enjoy! :)

xoxo,

Elena
