Wedding Bells!

Party Time!

The idea for our pre-wedding party was for it to be casual & comfortable, kid & pet friendly while being surrounded by our closest friends and family.  Since we have been engaged since February of 2008, we thought it silly to do anything formal, so we decided on a potluck BBQ in the park. No formal invitations either [I begrudgingly opted not to per Will's request] , just Evites to all!  Plus we thought a BBQ in the park would be a fun and relaxed way to start off this new chapter of our life together! :)

The weather was beautiful, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect. Minus the fact that most of our guests could not find our location! There were a lot of cellphone calls asking,”Where are you guys at??”

Most of those who we invited came, and I actually remembered to eat this time! I tend to forget to eat when hosting gatherings! I know, it’s such a bad habit! Thank goodness I didn’t do that this time. The strawberry cheesecake my mom brought was DELICIOUS! I could use a piece right about now! ;)

Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Why Not?!

I just discovered an e-magazine called Utterly Engaged, and they did this spread on a wedding completely inspired by the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (one of my all time favorite classic movies) .  They proposed if Holly Golightly were to throw a wedding, what would she include?? The images are so beautiful and the ideas so fun & whimsical! They updated the look with pops of pinks/reds, which are very reminiscent of  the colors I’ve chosen for my wedding. I especially love the idea of serving the coffee in cutely decorated “to-go” cups with pastries tied with a simple little “Tiffany Blue” bow.  I mean what else is as glamorous as the make believe life of Miss Holly Golightly? ;)

Eureka! We’ve found it!

So I have been searching and searching for this linen pattern (same as above), ever since I saw it on the Utterly Engaged website. I totally fell in love with it. I knew it was going in a different direction then the damask pattern I originally chose, but I felt it was a bit busy and we had ended up settling on a more subtle floral pattern with our caterer.

Well both my caterer and potential florist could not find this pattern! They searched and asked all their resources, and nothing! They showed me alternatives, all of which were not even close to what I wanted.

But yesterday I get an email from Neil @ HUNTLittlfield with this attached photo…

Kasbah

I beamed with joy when I saw it! :D Eureka! This is it! And he casually mentions in another email that they also have it available in the exact opposite version of black, which would make it an almost perfect match to the linen! Will and I think this version would actually work better, as it’s more subtle and will allow for other decorations on the table, but we have not made that final decision as of yet.

Whahoo!! Now all I need to do is find a photographer!! I can’t believe the wedding is less than a year away now! Whew! Time flies! ;)

Discount Score!

So I went to a discount oldie, but goodie yesterday, Marshall’s. I haven’t been for probably a good 2 years! I remember in high school I would make my weekly rounds to both Marshall’s and Ross, as they were right next door to each other! I am always looking for great deals and bargains. I actually went to kill some time, before I headed home, and did not really have anything in mind I was looking for [sometimes I just like to browse, it's how I get my fix when I don't have any $$], but then there they were…. sitting on the top shelf in the Home section the two most perfect apothecary jars! They were exactly what I need for our candy bar at our wedding reception! And at only $12.99/each I could not let them pass, as they normally go for double that price. We had considered renting them from our caterer, but was told that it would be more cost-effective to just purchase them ourselves. And I can totally use them again for cocktail parties, or decorative accessories at home. I think they were definitely a great investment! :)

Thank You Marshall's!

Flower proposal has been signed and mailed with deposit to save our date! We decided to go with Hunt Littlefield for our flowers, as he has been absolutely phenomenal and helpful in our planning process, even before we had even chosen him as our florist.  As I stated in my earlier post. He came in a little over our budget, but he said we can definitely “nip/tuck” to get the price down closer within our means! ;)

So excited, I cannot wait to finalize the details and see the flowers and accessories that will make the look complete!

Thank you Neil!
